San Mateo's Clean Water Program
Water remains to be a valuable resource humans cannot live without. It has to protected and used wisely to avoid adverse environmental impacts. In land areas near bodies of water such as the infamous San Francisco Bay, much attention has to be dedicated in improving water ways, particularly waste water to avoid contamination, leeching, or sedimentation.
San Mateo is a robust city in San Francisco, California, considered to be one of the major suburbs. Its relatively dense population signifies how much water is consumed every day, drained down the pipes through the sewage pumps and out into the bay.

Well, it must be understood that the goal of any sewage and waste water treatment facility is to release clean and safe water back into the open. Leakage of dirty, untreated sewage results from old and dysfunctional pipes and pumps. More so, if there's any ground movement due to natural calamities or construction activities, causing the facilities and infrastructure to break apart.
The City Council came up with a comprehensive initiative to protect and preserve the San Francisco bay for sustainable development. Hence, the San Mateo Clean Water Program, a joint venture of the City of San Mateo and the City of Foster City. The primary goal is to assess and improve the city's sewer system in terms of infrastructure and facilities to help meet present and future regulations and economic plans.
Specifically, the project aims to replace aging and worn-out infrastructure and facilities with more durable and advanced ones. There's the wet weather sewer system that works well under considerably heavy rains where water seeps through underground, adding pressure and volume to the system. With this new technology, its capacity guarantees less problems of breakdowns. There's odor control mechanism to avoid physical complications. Chemicals used are safe, so with the processes. The locksmiths in San Mateo stand with our brothers in the water treatment plants who are working hard to provide our community with safe & reliable drinking water
Other than improving the physical aspect of the system, the program is strategically designed to meet the long term development plan of the city. Very much like mapping out the roads, one needs to know where residences, commercial establishments and public utilities are more likely to be put up to manage traffic flow. Likewise, in sewage and wastewater systems there is a need to know economic details to tactically devise plans for pumps and big pipes. After all, what good would increase economic activity serve if the city doesn't know what to with their wastes. A faulty sewage system may have a huge impact on an investor's decision, and so with household owners.
The Clean Water Program entails several processes starting from the planning, consultation, public orientations, commission meetings, and releasing of a programmatic environmental impact report. Yes, that is how comprehensive and meticulous the team is. The dates are all posted on their website to inform and involve the public. The way to implementation isn't all smooth, there may be revisions needed or delays. But the noble goal of the program keeps the blood flowing for both the people and the local council. Right now, it already spells success.
